To figure out which music is the “most hipster,” the company’s data scientists looked at two factors: critical acclaim and obscurity. The former metric was taken from reviews onhipster tastemaker Pitchfork, the latter based on Facebook likes of each review. Priceonomics analyzed all of Pitchfork’s “best new albums” for 2013 and 2014, establishing a “hipster music index” for critically acclaimed, obscure bands. Guitarist Olamide Faison gives us an acoustic of “She’s Only Happy in the Sun.” You may remember Olamide as the lead singer from the 90’s R&B group Imajin. He’s also the younger brother of actor Donald Faison. Not only has Olamide matured physically, but also musically. His tracks sound nothing like the music he sung during his teenage years.
